The above link is to a site called Sparklebox. It has many free resources for music lessons including some very useful music vocabulary cards.

The above link is to The Times Educational Supplement. It has a whole host of different music related resources on here produced by teachers for teachers.

Free Music Lesson Plans

The above link is to a site called Music Express. Music express is a scheme that schools can buy into, they have books of lesson plans and activity photocopiables. However, their site offers free downloads of lesson plans and schemes of work which outline the objectives children should work towards achieving and lists of key words they should learn. Additionally it provides assessment sheets which are good for documenting children's progress.

2Simple Music Toolkit

As requested I have done some research on Music teaching as many of colleagues are uncertain about how to teach music. I have therefore provided video podcasts on how to use the music software 2simple music toolkit and have included a couple of links to free resource sites to help you with the teaching of music. Hopefully this has provided some additional support and will boost your confidence in teaching this subject. 2Simple Music Toolkit is available as a 30day trial from their website http://www2.2simple.com/. 2Simple Music Toolkit- 2Compose (Podcast)

This is a simple how-to guide for non-specialists to teach core musical concepts and is closely linked to the QCA schemes of work for Music and ICT.

The 2simple toolkit is a correlation of program for foundation stage, Keystage 1 and Keystage 2 introducing the concept of rhythm, pitch, melody, tempo and harmony in a full interactive, but creative way. This podcast explores one element of this program called 2Compose. It is perfect for Keystage 2 who are beginning to write notated music on a stave. It does require some level of competence with note values, chords, rhythms and note positioning on a stave as this is an essential part of the program.
