2Simple Music Toolkit- 2Explore (Podcast)

This is a simple how-to guide for non-specialists to teach core musical concepts and is closely linked to the QCA schemes of work for Music and ICT.

The 2simple toolkit is a correlation of program for foundation stage, Keystage 1 and Keystage 2 introducing the concept of rhythm, pitch, melody, tempo and harmony in a full interactive, but creative way. This podcast explores one element of this program called 2explore. It is perfect for the Keystage 1 module "Exploring Sounds" where by the children have to discover the sounds around them.

  1. This piece of software looks excellent for young children to start creating their own music. Are there any preset drum beats (for example) children could play the other 'instruments' along with?

Also, with older children in primary, 'Garageband' on iPad/Mac is excellent for recording on the move and goes into a little more depth with regards to the instruments, e.g. different types of piano/keyboard/guitar etc.

  2. I've had this on my laptop for some time and wasn't really sure what it was. Your user guides are really easy to follow, thanks for the tips! :)
